Thursday Randoms

1. Max reading a book that his friend, Kaylee got him for his bday. 2 Can you guess what he ate for dinner?  3.  Playing with his tool bench that his Grandma and Grandpa got him for his bday. 4. Putting away his toys!  We're still working on this. :)  5.  Working on his shapes.  6. My two loves.
7. Someone was sad about going to school.  8. Playing in the waiting room before his 2 year check-up.  9.  Fighting his nap, but a few minutes later he was passed out.
2 year Facts
-31 pounds
-33.5 inches tall
-Max had to get one shot, and he was a champ.  He wasn't impressed with his Bugs Bunny band aid, and would of much rather had a Mickey Mouse band aid.
-We have a new pediatrician, who is awesome!  Gave me helpful advice when it comes to discipline for Max, and informed me that he should be drinking 2% milk.  The other place told me he should be drinking 1%.
-He doesn't have to go back until he's 3, but won't have any shots until he's 4!  Yay to that!
-His new favorite sentence/question to ask is "Uh! What was that?!"  He asks this when he hears a plane, garbage truck, or when he farts.   It's super funny when he farts, because he says it so seriously and then giggles like a mad man.
-This kid is seriously the best, and we are so blessed to have him in our lives.

Liebster Blog Award

What?!!  Marissa from My Life as a Wife & Mom & Student  nominated me for the Liebster Blog Award.   What the heck is the Liebster Blog Award you ask?  Well here are the rules when receiving this awesomely exciting blog award:
1. Each person must list 11 things about themselves.
2. Answer the 11 questions that the tagger has set for you plus you MUST create a set of 11 new questions for the 11 people you tag.
3. Choose 11 bloggers
5. Absolutely no tag backs
6. The bloggers have to have less than 200 followers.
7. Go inform them that you nominated them for the award.

So here it goes!  (OMG, I forgot to list 11 things about myself.  I posted the rules and didn't even follow them!!)

11 Jen Facts
1. I love green olives.  Everyone knows I hate black olives with a passion, but when I say I love green olives, I mean I can eat a jar in like two days.  It's a serious problem.
2. I'm kind of obsessed with Master Chef and Hells Kitchen.  I know if I would to be on either of those shows and Gordon Ramsey called me a bloody cow I would be a sobbing mess.
3.  I stopped eating red meat, pork, and chicken on Wednesday.  At first I felt like I was in AA and I kept saying, "It's been 2 days since I ate meat."  Yes it's only be 5 days, but so far so good.
4. I don't consider myself a gambler until I'm in Vegas.  Then watch out, because I love playing penny slots.  Really though each bet is like 30 cents or more, so how they call it a penny slot, I don't know.
5.  My mom is one of my BFFs.  I talk/text her just about every day.  Unless I'm in Vegas then I'm at the slots. Kidding.
6. I am a book worm.  I recently finished The Watchers trilogy.  Super cheap for the nook.  Read them, you'll like them all.
7.  I wish I lived in Stars Hollow.  If you don't know what I'm talking about, that makes me sad.
8.  I hate scary movies, and plug my ears so i don't hear the music, or scary parts.
9.  October is my least favorite month, solely because all the scary movies come out for Halloween.  I like happy movies.  I'm weird, I know.
10.  I don't like the movie A Christmas Story.  I hate it, is more like it.  I cringe just thinking about it.
11.  I love blogging, but worry about being judged as a mother and person. (especially from family and friends, but what can you do?)

1. What is the one thing you've always wanted to do but haven't?
I have always wanted to go to one of those cooking classes where you cook with friends, and then get to eat whatever yummy stuff you learned to cook.

2. Read any good books lately, if so what was your favorite?
I love reading.  The last book I read was Where We Belong by Emily Giffin.  So good!!  I love when a book makes you laugh or cry and this book made me do both.

3. Guilty pleasures, have any, what are they?
When Max is sleeping I love to catch up on the reality tv shows I have dvred.  One might call me a reality tv whore, but that's okay.  I am fully aware that I watch too many, but I love them.  I also love reading US Weekly.  I definitely know way too much about celebrities.

4. Pet peeves?
When cabinets in the house are left open (I know weird, but seriously close the cabinet),

5. Favorite color?
Orange, but it's not a color I'd wear (unless it's Halloween) or a color I'd paint my house.

6. A place you'd love to travel to, but haven't gone yet?
Italy.  I don't think there is anything else I need to say.

7.What is something you are afraid of?
You might be looking for something deep here, but butterflies.  I think I'm a lot better now, but when I was younger my uncles (Leo and Leroy, I'm so calling you out) would taunt me with these gold butterflies my Grandma had hanging on her wall.  Eak, scary!  I won't go screaming if I see a butterfly, but you won't see me going into a butterfly garden or letting any land on me.  Makes me kind of panic.  Thank you uncles for taking a pretty butterfly and making them scary.

8. What state do you live in?
The hot, hot state of Arizona.  Every summer I ask myself why we still live here.

9. Where did you meet your significant other?
Aww..Ian and I met on April Fools day through our friends Nate and Laura.  They invited me over to hang out.  I already had plans, but I canceled and I'm so glad I did!

10. Are you from a large family or small family (brothers and sisters)?
I have a brother, Antonio, who is pretty awesome.  The bestest brother a girl could ask for, except when he was a baby and he'd call me Mama at the stores to make me mad.   Alicia, is my younger sister who is way cooler than I ever was or will be.  She is the bestest sister a girl could ask for, but needs to learn that NSYNC is the ultimate boy band...way cooler than One Direction.

11. Why do you blog?
I started off blogging to keep my family and friends updated with my pregnancy.  I still keep my friends and family in the loop of what's going on with our family of 3, but its a way for me to keep our memories.  I always go back every so often and reread some of my posts.  I'd like to make it a book, and keep it for Max.   I also like to vent sometimes and just throw it out there into the blogiverse.

Break. My. Heart.

When Max turned 2 he moved up to a new classroom.   He was sad to leave his teacher who he had gotten attached to, but most of his friends had moved up or will be moving up, so we thought he'd be fine.  Fine he was for a couple days, and then a fire drill happened.  To say the fire drill scared Max is an understatement.  Since having the tubes in his ears he hears much better, but things are also loud.  He'd never heard a fire drill before, and it scared the crap out him.  Since then, taking him to school has been so sad.  He knows we're going there and when we get close he starts to say, "No, no, no."  He sheds a few tears, but when I actually drop him off in his room he clings to me and cries.  Ugh, it breaks my heart.  What's a mama to do?   It makes me want to just keep him home, but I know once he warms up, he's fine and has fun with his friends.

I hope it gets better, because my heart can't take it.

Play Area

Max got so many cool toys for his birthday.  He's in toy heaven right now.   I figured now is the perfect time to organize and clean up his play area.  He was taking over the living room, so I moved his play area to the room across from our kitchen.  It looks pretty nice if I do say so myself.  If I were Max's age I would love to play in all that fun.  Shoot, I'll probably play with him in all that fun!

Now we just need to work on having him play in this area, and not bring his toys into the living room...which is what he's doing. :)  We'll get there.

Today was Max's 2nd birthday party.  We started off our day with a haircut for the boy.  His hair was looking like Justin Bieber.  I don't have the Bieber fever, and I was tired of my little man's hair looking like a shaggy mess.  My mom and I ventured out to get his haircut, and I thought Max would handle it well.  Ummm, not so much.  He cried, freaked out, and even the yummy sucker didn't calm him down.  It wasn't until my mom played FBB on her phone that he finally calmed down a little.  In the end his haircut was awesome, but we were both covered in hair.  Luckily it's so short that we won't have to go back for awhile.

His party was at Playground Fun Zone.  It's a pretty awesome place.  Him and his friends had the place to themselves to play.  Besides the bday boy, I'd say his bday cake was a huge hit.  My friend, Rebecca, who is a teacher makes cakes on the side.  I asked her if she would make Max's cake, and I'm so happy she did!!  It turned out Ah-mazing!!  Some random little boy tried to grab Elmo's face when we first got there and all of us around the cake yelled, "Noooooo!"  Elmo was unharmed.  Thank goodness.   I think Rebecca needs to open a cake business.  Don't you agree?

Max had a blast up until he saw me holding Nolan.  Then he freaked and wanted me to hold him.  He was a hot mess after that.  When there was about 20 minutes left of his party he decided to play again.   I'm so happy with how everything turned out.  Having his party at PFZ was stress free.  It's so the way to go!!

Thank you to all my friends and family who helped celebrate Max's 2nd birthday.  I'm so glad you all are in his life. (and ours)

Pink Birthday

Pink eye birthday that is.  The poor birthday boy woke up at 2 AM screaming bloody murder crying.  He kept saying, "Eyes! Eyes!"  So I took him to the bathroom so I could see in the light and the poor guy has  pink eye in both eyes.  Happy Birthday to you kid.  :(  He cried for over an hour, and then finally went to sleep.  So the first time he woke up on his 2nd bday he was a sobbing mess, so we're going to hope the 2nd time is a lot better.

Eyes...so I went to the doctor on Thursday.  My eye is still inflamed, and now my retina is swollen.  Awesome, right?  I have to put yet another drop in my eye four times a day, which doesn't sound bad, but it burns like a mother effer.  If my retina is still swollen in a month then I'll have to have a shot in my eye!  Yikes!  My blood work came back and one of the markers came back positive, so I'm going to a specialist this week and hopefully he can narrow it down to a specific thing that's causing my troubles.  As I type it today, I'm okay with it all, but Thursday I was a hot mess.  Hot mess.  I'm just at that point where I'm tired of having eye problems, and I want to find a solution.   Oh and the doc told me that I can't run.  Ever.  Goodbye wanting to complete a half marathon.  With my history of retina detachment, he said running could be a factor in the inflammation and/or cause future detachments.  He said I could bike....umm I guess.

Back to the birthday boy, who is sleeping so hard right now.  Today might not be how we planned, but he'll get to celebrate with family and friends on Saturday.  Let's just hope this morning at the doctors he won't freak out too much....wishful thinking;.  My two year old will let it be known he wants nothing to do with the doctor.

Max's bday shirt.

I got this off pinterest.  Hopefully Max will enjoy it. :)

Happy 2nd Birthday Max!

Happy Birthday my little man!!  I cannot believe that you are already two years old!!  Seems like just yesterday I was praying that you would make your debut into the world.  Now you are a rough playing, sentence talking, loving, making messes, singing/dancing, TWO year old.  Daddy and I are so proud of you and love you so much!  Thank you for making our days so much better.
My happy boy.
Max gets us to leave the room so he can grab the computer.
I love the computer mama!!
My loves taking a nap.

Drummer Boy

Last night we went to Benihana's for dinner with Jakub and Mel.  I love that place.  Dinner takes some time so we were worried about Max starting to get antsy...which he did.  At first he had tons of fun with the chopsticks.  Who uses them for food?  They are meant to be drumsticks!   The menu also turns into a hat, so he had fun making everyone try it on.  Why I didn't take pictures of that, I don't know.  Fail.   Once the action started with the food  making, he was kind of into it.  He had more fun playing with his fried rice then actually eating it.  The mess....oh goodness.

I think we have a little drummer boy on our hands.  :)

Bieber Fever

Ch-ch-changes!  So today I went to PCA to fill out paperwork, and I was a nervous wreck.  I officially start on Monday!!  I'm excited to join the PCA family, and work where Max will be enjoying his days.   I have no clue why I was so nervous, but I even sent Ian a text.  He sent me a pep talk text back. :)  I'm looking forward to this change, and all the new adventures I'll get to experience.

Max.  This kid amazes me everyday
-He is talking up a storm.
-When you give him a choice between two things, he actually stands there and thinks about it.  "Ummm" included while he's thinking.
-When he wants your full attention he'll grab your face to make sure you are looking at him.
-He has a fake laugh that is hilarious to hear.
-He's all about the potty, but won't actually use it.
-He picks things up and hands them to you saying, "Here you go."
-He's a hoarder.  When going to bed he likes to have Jake, bank (blanket), cars, baseball helmet, a book, his milk, and any other thing his little hands can grab.  I had to draw the line at bringing his golf bag to bed.
Max was in motorcycle heaven, and we had to
go look at each and every bike.
I think he's starting a new trend, or making a fashion
statement. Either way I couldn't stop laughing.

Bieber hair.  I know, he needs a haircut.

Enjoying a drink from Starbucks.  Good, yummy, cold, water.

Coloring with his friend, Maddi.  They don't mess
around when coloring.

Eye Update: The steroids suck, but they've helped my eye tremendously.  Cloudiness is almost gone.   My eye is still dilated, so I zoom in on the computer, and the font on my phone is ginormous.  I'm just happy my eye is getting better as the days go by.

Today is the first day of school for my teacher friends.  I've always been excited about the first day of school since always.  School supplies make me happy, and meeting your kiddos....awesome.  I had that excited feeling about school for 7 years, and I'm not there today.  It's a weird feeling.   I have to say I'm really exciting about working at PCA, once my eye is back to normal, but it's just weird not being in my classroom with a new bunch of 3rd graders.

Happy Monday!  To all my teacher friends I hope you have a great first day back!!
