Candid Christmas Card Contest

I'm partnering up with cardstore to review their cards.  Right now through December 3rd they are running a contest for a candid Christmas card.  They are looking for those "Christmas card failures".  We all have those pictures where our child is terrified of Santa or awkward pictures that never make it to Instagram.

The grand prize winner will receive a $1,500 Visa gift card to put towards a holiday trip, a Nikon CoolPix camera, and free Cardstore Christmas cards to send out to their loved ones this holiday season! We’re also giving away prizes for second and third place.

What do you have to lose for submitting an embarrassingly funny picture???   Good luck!!

18 Months of Emma

Well Miss Emma had her 18 month check up this morning.  Any doctor visit where there are shots is never a good time.  Emma saw the cool metallic band aids and started clapping.  Poor girl thought they looked fun, but when the shots (3) came she was so mad.  She kept crying and signing, "all done".  Since then she's been a real gem.  Angry as can be and determined to make everyone else feel her pain.  Just ask Max.  He was on the floor nicely playing with his cars  She tried to be all godzilla like and trample his cars .  He shielded them with his body so she took his leap pad and hit his back.   Miss Sassypants was in major trouble and she knew it, because when he started crying she took off running away from me.  When I started chasing her she tried to run to me to give me a hug.  She's good and thinks she can distract me with her kindness.  I did not fall for it.

Emma Facts
-She is in the 90th percentile for her height and 75th percentile for weight.
-She does really well at following directions, unless she's on a mission to destroy something in her path.
-She says many words, but my favorite that she says is "Tank you".
-She continues to love food.  All food.
-Her hair is growing and has a curl to it.  I'm loving doing her hair, even though she pulls out barrettes and bows.
-When she gets excited about something she'll gasp,  point and say, "Yook!"
-She loves bothering her brother, but I think he's her favorite person to be around.
-She loves the check up song from Doc Mcstuffins and will sing along with it.
-She is still teething and it feels like she just may teeth F.O.R.E.V.E.R.
-She can be so sweet and say "Hi!" and "Bye bye!" to everyone that passes her by.
-She loves stickers.  Holding them, chewing on them, crunching them into a ball, tearing them up.
-She's so stubborn (just like her daddy).

Rough Day

Today was a rough day.  I have days where I feel good.  I feel like I'm okay and moving on from the miscarriage.  Then I have days like today, and it's just hard.  Nothing went right today.  Our oven locked and won't open.  Two days before Thanksgiving and it won't freaking open.  I went to an appointment and I was 45 minutes early, because I thought my appointment was at a different time.  45 minutes turned into an hour and a half with two kids.  You can imagine the fun.  Most of that time I was surrounded by beautiful, happy, pregnant women.   Then I got stuck in traffic for what seemed like forever.  Emma keeps attacking the tree/ornaments with a hockey stick.   Today was just a rough day... Today I'm not okay.  I'm sad and angry, and getting consumed into "What ifs" and "What could have beens".

Tomorrow will be a better day, and our damn oven better open so I can start cooking for Thanksgiving.  Send some prayers my way please, and for my oven. :)

The Holidays

The past few days have been a hot mess. Ian has been so sick (finally feeling better), Max started feeling bad again (bad cough), and Emma still has a runny nose and is teething (chews on her paci like it's her job).  So far I'm good, and I'm eating vitamin c like candy.  I will not get sick. I hope.

Max and Emma love this story, and think it's so funny.

Max circled toys for his wish list and it was the cutest thing ever.

We put up the tree today.  Max and Emma were so giddy. I love holidays with kids. Celebrating is so much more fun with them. It kind of made me sad, because I was thinking how Christmas could have been with 3 little ones.  My heart hurts.

Emma would clap and cheer after she carefully placed the ornament.

Max couldn't get enough. He loved hanging each ornament, especially the sparkly ones. He also loved seeing Ian's childhood ornaments and asking questions.

Emma loved putting the ornaments on, and loves taking them off just as much!

Emma's looking at the ornaments that we didn't put on the tree.

This girl.  As sad I was feeling her and Max's excitement was contagious.

I love the holidays.

The Week that Lasted a Month

Well hey there.  So it's Wednesday and it feels like the past 7 days have lasted months.  Max got sick, and I took him to the doctor Friday.  Friday Emma started getting sick.  Saturday Max was on the road to recovery and causing trouble.  Sunday Emma and I had to stay home from Max's hockey practice because she wasn't feeling any better.  Monday I took Emma to the doctor and the word was cold with a mix of teething.  Snot and drool are not a fun combination, in case you were wondering.  I know you were.  Tuesday the power went out at 7:08 pm and was off for over 2 hours.  Now here we are at Wednesday.  Fun.  Oh and Emma cried for 3 nights in a row, which was lack of sleep for her and I.  Again....fun.

Emma didn't mind going to the pediatrician when we get to hang out in rooms with dinosaurs on the wall

This was Emma for days, just not nights.  Oh I loved the snuggles.

We were taking Max to school and before we got out of the car he wanted me to take his picture in his new jacket.

More snuggles with my girl. I think we need a vacation where there is sand and sun.

We passed the dollar section at Target and saw the mini Christmas tree.  Their little eyes lit up, and I was done for.  So we got the tree, mini ornaments and a mini tree topper.

Now Optimus has a lovely decorated Christmas tree to look at and get in the festive spirit.

I have a doctors appointment today and will be taking both kids with me.  Lord help me, because I have a feeling it's going to be rough.  I see many bribes in my future.

Hope your week isn't lasting months.

High Five for Friday

What a cold week it's been here!  I know in comparison to Alaska or places where it's already snowing, it doesn't compare, but for a girl who was use to AZ winters, it's cold!!  This will be our second winter in WA, and I honestly don't remember it being so cold last year.  Really I think last year I was in love with the weather and thought it was so beautiful, and now...well now I know that it's not so great, but I will make the best of it!

Onward to my fav moments of the week.

1.On Monday the Sounders advanced to the Western Conference Championship (or Finals...I'm not sure what soccer world call it)!!! I'm so excited for Ian and the staff, as well as the players. It means work is still insanely busy for Ian, and he only gets Thanksgiving off (boo), but it's super exciting for Sounders fans everywhere.  We have to play the LA Galaxy, so I get to say #BeatLA.

2. Last year we were in a townhome and didn't have to worry about yard work.  Well now we get to rake up all the millions of leaves that cover our yard.  We were outside for two hours, and it was a workout! The kiddos had fun running around, and trying to help pick up the leaves that were blowing away.  I felt pretty good after I was done, but I'm so over it.  Next round is Ian's turn, and all the rounds after that.  Side story, so Max is wearing a raccoon hat.  Everywhere we go he wears it backwards because he wants people to think his hat is staring at them.  He thinks it's the funniest thing in the world and laughs it up.

3.  Don't Call Me Ma'am (isn't that a great name?) sent me some goodies to try out.  A giveaway will be coming up next month and one of you lovely readers will get the skincare products shown in the picture for your very own.  My skin has been getting super dry because of the chilly, freaking cold weather and so far my face loves me for using the daily moisturizer.

4. Free cookies! We went to QFC and they were giving away sugar cookies.  Both Max and Emma were pretty pumped about getting a cookie. Smiles all around.

5, The snuggles this week.  No pictures, but both kiddos have been under the weather.  We had a doctor appointment this morning.  Both have been cuddling up to me and wanting to be held.  They are my very own personal heaters, and I love it. I don't love that they're sick.  The joys of Max going to school.  Comes home with all sorts of germs.

Happy Friday to you!

What Emma Wore

Every girl needs a pair of boots. Emma got her very first pair and she wears them so well!  I just might have to go back to Target and get them in brown as well.....

Today it's flipping cold out. The sun is shining brightly, but the chill in the air...brrr.   I just bought this coat for Max, this one for Emma, and this one for myself.  Ian wasn't left out, but he has his water resistant Sounders jacket, so he's okay in the coat department.  I haven't bought a new coat in forever, because living in AZ you didn't need a heavy coat.  Oh the weather. I think this winter it's going to be a cold one!!!

Happy Wednesday!  Stay warm!

Our Weekend

Our weekend started bright and early with these kiddos waking up at 6:45 in the am.  Why???

I put Emma's hair in pigtails for the first time and died over how adorable she looked. Aren't pigtails a right of passage of some sort for little girls?

I have pigtails?!?! What?!?!

Max's bff H came over and we made turkey hats. Glue got in their hair, all over their hands, and some little girl decided to eat it off her fingers.

We went to dinner at Buca di Beppo with some family friends (parents of our great friends who we visited in Boise), and had amazing food and conversation.

Emma got a bit antsy towards the end of dinner and had fun wearing Mrs. B's glasses.

Sunday Max had practice and we gave him a little pep talk before we got to the rink. We reminded him to try his hardest and to have FUN.  He not only tried his hardest the entire hour, but was full of smiles the whole time.  They ended practice with scoring a goal. Coach helped Max stand up, and then...

He hit that puck like a pro! He even slowly (like super slow motion) skates back to the blue line.

Tonight the Sounders play FC Dallas in the playoff game that determines who moves on to the Conference Finals. Soccer playoffs are weird.  Boom boom clap! We'll be watching from home where the littles can run wild.

Thanksgiving Planning

This year I think Thanksgiving is going to be our little family.  We won't need a whole turkey for just us, so I'm thinking I'll get a turkey breast and try this recipe.  Ina Garten knows her stuff, so it has to be good.  I hope.

This photo was getting pinned away on Pinterest and I thought it would be super helpful for all you who are cooking up a Thanksgiving meal for loved ones!  The number for bottle of wines made me laugh.  Our family would probably double that! Hey, holidays are meant for some good food and fun!

How much to serve at Thanksgiving Dinner. Number of wine bottles would be way more for our family!

Individual pumpkin pies look like fun to make, and I think Max and Emma would love having their own special pumpkin pie.

What's a Thanksgiving without sides?  Mashed potatoes, stuffing, rolls...YUM.  You kind find 60 sides here, and you might as well make them all, because they look good.

If you want your house to look festive, you kind find ways to decorate on a dime here.  Go spend your dimes!

Have you tried a stove top potpourri before?  I've done the William Sonoma scent, and my house smelled so lovely.  I want to try this one, and what better day than Thanksgiving?

Do you plan on making anything new this Thanksgiving?  What traditions do you have for celebrating this wonderful give thanks food filled day? Let me know!

You can find all pins (and more) in this post on my Thanksgiving board.  Go pin away and happy planning!

November Crafts

Let's get crafty!  Some links to some fun and festive Thanksgiving crafts.

1. Handprint turkey.  We already did this, and the kiddos loved it.  Paint on their hands tickles them, and they giggle it up. I'm always worried Emma will touch something she shouldn't with her painted hand, but so far so good.  Washable paint is a must.

2. A leaf wreath.  We'll take a little nature walk in our very own front and backyard, and collect some colorful leaves.

3. Pilgrim hats and turkey hats will be worn by Max and Emma.  Oh the pictures that will be Instagrammed.

4. I don't know if I'll actually make these festive snacks for the kids, but they are super cute.

5. 30 crafts for toddlers that claim to be easy.

6. 50 turkey crafts, because really who is going to just make one turkey craft this month? Not us!

7. Froot Loop Trees. Who doesn't love to snack while being crafty?  Max loves him some froot loops.

8. Thanksgiving books to read to your little turkeys to talk about Thanksgiving.

9. Treats your kiddos will love making and eating.  Mmmmm.

10.  This printable Thanksgiving pack for preschoolers looks cute and fun for your little pre-kers.

Happy Crafting!!  Find me on twitter, Instagram or Facebook and let me know if you do any of these activities!!

High Five for Friday

This has been the longest week. I blame it on daylight savings time.

1 Emma isn't a fan of the time change either. Her mood changes for the not so happy right after nap.  Lord help us all. I wonder if wine consumption increases during the Fall/Winter? Dark by 4:30, cranky kids by 5, wine in hand by 5:01. I kid. Kinda.

2. The crafts are a flowing right on to the next holiday.  Painted hands can be dangerous, especially with 1 year olds, but these turkeys came out pretty good!

3. It's crock pot dinner making time. I made a beef stew and it's so. good. My little foodie of a daughter also is a fan, so I know it must be good.

4. The colors of Fall in Washington are so beautiful.  I stopped to take this picture on our way home.  I don't think I'll ever get over the beauty in this state.

5. Max continues to get better in his hockey class. It's hard to believe this is the same kid who was laying on the ice the first class, and can now stand by himself. Crazy!  He has 3 more classes. We'll see if he wants to keep playing after it's over. I love seeing him on the ice though.

Enjoy your weekend! I hope it's a great one!

Friday: Our day started bright and early getting ready for Max's dentist appointment.  I'm not sure why I made the appointment at 8 in the AM, but I did.  Crazy, I know.  I got the kiddos ready in their costumes, and off we went in the pouring rain.  There wasn't a parking by the office, so we ended up getting soaked by the time we made it inside.  Wet, but fun.  Max is still in the No Cavity Club, and his teeth were super clean and ready to eat tons of candy.

My friend from high school came up to visit us.  We got a jackolantern pizza before heading out to trick-or-treat.

Seconds before we were getting ready to leave, Optimus got sick.  So Max turned into a Steelers football player.  Ian and I were so bummed he couldn't wear his Optimus costume, because he was so excited about it, but he was a champ and went with the flow.  Only one jerk Seahawks fan old man made a comment to Max.  By the end of the night Emma was saying a version of "Trick-or-treat!", and she was holding her bag with all her little might.

Emma and Jax wanted to go into everyones house! I will most definitely have to teach Emma stranger danger, because as of right now she will be your bff if you offer her candy or have a cell phone.

The rain stopped early in the afternoon, and the evening was so nice.  I hadn't seen my friend, Sarah, since high school over 10 years ago...more like 13 years.  It was so great, and the minute she got here it was like a day hadn't passed since we last talked.  I loved every minute of her visit, girl talk, and reminiscing about the high school days.

Saturday: We went to Kelsey Creek Park with all the kiddos, and let them run wild.  They had so much fun seeing the animals. I nearly got attacked by a rooster.  Laughs for everyone else, but not me.  I just about died.

Emma and Jax were instant bffs.  The cuteness overload with these two.

When we got back home Max, H and I raked up the leaves in the front yard and backyard.  Raking is no joke.  I'm a sore mess today.  I made piles of fun, because both boys were running and jumping and remaking a mess of my hard work. Thankfully Ian took over!

Today Max has hockey practice, which I'm hoping goes way better than last week.  It's also a day of our sport teams playing.  The Coyotes, Steelers, and Sounders play!  The Sounders are in the playoffs and today is their first game.  BOOM BOOM CLAP!

Hope the rest of your weekend is a good one! Happy Sunday!!
