Our weekend trip to Portland was a quick one.  We saw family that we hadn't seen in 3 years!  We have been to Portland before, but this time we did a little exploring downtown.
This fountain is cool because you can walk underneath it and not get wet.  We watched several people ride bikes, push strollers and run around.
Our purpose for going was for my cousin's wedding.  These two looked so cute.
We got Emma's dress and Max's pants from H&M.  I heart eyed Emma's dress so hard.  She wanted to sleep in it that night and threw a major fit when we didn't let her.

The kiddos made it through most of the mass, but we went outside after communion and SnapChatted selfies, because what else would we do?
Ian made a stop at Voodoo Donuts, because hello cookies and cream donut.  I wanted an ODB, but no luck.  Thanks Ian.
We said goodbye to my family yesterday, which was extra sad.  I had a good ugly cry.  It was sadder this time around because we're moving.   All the emotions made me such a basket case.   The next couple weeks are going to be full of stress, tears and excitement.  You better believe I'll be documenting it all. Ha!
Happy Monday friends!  Hope you have an amazing last week of July!!

Life Lately

Happy Thursday!  This week is going by so fast, and time does fly when you're having fun.  On our way up to camping we stopped at the outlets to buy the kiddos some shoes.  Emma Girl got this pair along with the shorts and she was pretty in pink.  Or Pinkalicious, which is her fav book right now.
We went walking around the mall the other day and Max saw this movie poster with his name, so obviously we had to take a picture.
Emma was in heaven.  She loves when you hold both her hands while she's walking and she can swing while she walks.  She also loves Grandpa and Grandmom.
We went to The Museum of Flight, and we had so much fun.  They have a cute area for the kids to play.  They also had an exhibit that's very hands on, and we all had a blast.

Max and Emma loved all the planes, especially the ones we could go into and check out.
As we were leaving they started playing the Star Wars theme song, and both kids started humming up a storm.

The Kids Port was the cutest spot.  They were able to use their imaginations to be passengers, airline workers,  and pilots.  So cute to watch, and if you follow on me on SnapChat (jenwink08) you saw the cuteness for yourself!

Yesterday we went to my favorite place in Seattle.  Pikes Place Market.  I love walking around there, and would go every day if we lived closer.  We saw the Gum Wall, which is always grossly cool.  We've never added gum to the wall, and yesterday we did!!  Max is the diagonal line, Emma's is the green blog underneath, and mine is the green heart on top.
Last night Ian and I took out my parents to dinner.  We went to Wild Ginger.  I started off my dinner with a mango mojito, and it was delicious.  I could have easily drank two, but I stopped after one because I was feeling good.   Dinner there is served family style.  Don't think Buca Di Beppo, because the portions are way smaller.   It was nice to have a long dinner with just adults.  My brother and sister watched Max and Emma for us.  So sweet.  They played quite a few games, where I'm sure Max won because he's the most competitive kid ever.
We have a few days left with family and there is more fun to be had!  I probably won't post anything until next week.  If you want to keep up with our adventures be sure to follow me on Instagram (Jenwink08) and SnapChat (jenwink08).
Ian made it Facebook official, so it's okay for me to share here....our family is moving to Georgia!!  I have loved every minute of living in Washington.  WA is where Emma was born.  WA is where I found my love for teaching again.  WA is where I made such amazing friends, and I'm going to miss them terribly.  WA is where I'm living a piece of my heart.   I'm excited for our future and the many adventures we're about to have as a family.

Guys, I went camping!  I went once when I was in 8th grade, but I honestly don't remember it much.  Some people love camping and thinks it's the best thing in the world.  Before this trip, I was not one of those people.  My parents would go all the time while I was in college and I never went with them.  It wasn't my cup of tea.  I was so lame.

We went up north to Bay View State Park.  Our friend set it all up and we had two camping sites for 3 families.  There were 6 adults and 6 kiddos running wild.   This was the first time I helped set up a tent and when it was done I kept thinking, "Wow, what a nice tent!" #proudmoment

The kiddos picked blackberries every chance they got, and had fun eating them.  I had fun watching them especially if they were sour.  The faces they would make were priceless.

There was a big grassy area where Max met a friend who was playing lacrosse with his dad.  They invited Max to play, and he loved it!  Most of the people camping were pretty friendly.

Our site was a quick walk to the beach.  This was the sunset on our first night camping.

Our friends have a dog that Max and Emma fell in love with.  Emma wanted to bring him home with us, and both were so sad when they realized they couldn't.

Our last night we went back to the beach to watch the sunset, and it was breathtaking. I love how the sun leaves a golden path on the water.

All in all I'd say our first camping trip as a family was a success!  I went in with low expectations, thinking I wasn't going to like it one bit, and turns out I really kind of like it!  I'm not saying I want to go camping every weekend, but once in awhile would be okay with me.   Plus s'mores are enough reason for us to go camping!
Happy Wednesday friends!!

Friday Eve

Happy Friday eve...well maybe by the time I post this it will be Friday.  Hope you guys have had a great week.  We've had such a busy week.  Max had a birthday party to go to on Tuesday during the day.  He had so much fun seeing some of his classmates.  They had a water balloon/water fight, which I think was the hit of the party.
A photobomb of a mama's arm, but I love the way Max looks in the picture.  My boy is always smiling.  Well most of the time.  If you follow me on SnapChat (jenwink08) you saw other party fun which may have included breaking raw/hard boiled eggs on his head...don't worry I washing his head right after.
That night we went to dinner with cousins from Alabama.  We saw them in November, and we were so excited to get to visit with them for a bit.  Emma picked a romper to wear.  She had gotten this as a gift and it fits her now.  She was a little model showing it off.  So adorably cute.  She's such a fashionista.
Today the kiddos and I had a playdate with my friend, Elise and her kiddos.  We met at our favorite park and the kids ran wild.   Before we got out I took picture to send to Ian.
Emma was mid dance.
Lately Emma wants her hair in braids.  She either calls for the Elsa (French braid) or Anna (two French braids or regular braids).  I'm not the best braider, because usually she hates anything to be done to her hair.

Before dinner I took the kiddos swimming.  They had ducky races.
Then Emma Girl asked if they could relax in the hot pool.  How could I say no to that?
I started reading You Before Me yesterday and I'm so sad to say I finished it today.  I sobbed and sobbed.  Max saw me at one point and told me that I better not read it again.  Ugh, it's so good.  I plan to rent the movie when it comes out on DVD and watch it by myself so I can ugly cry.
I can hardly wait for this weekend.  So much fun to be had, and I get to see my family!!!  I. Can't. Wait.
Have a fantastic weekend!

Case of the Mondays

It's summer so really there should be no case of the Mondays.  Leave it to my normally sweet Emma to have a major case.  She woke up at FOUR in the morning.  Then it took her about an hour to go back to sleep.  She woke up for the day around 6:30.  When she woke up, I think she made it her mission to torture Max.  Poor kid woke up at 7 and had no idea what he was in for.....

Emma is sassy.  She always has been and probably always will be.  I love that about her, but when she takes it up a notch she can be difficult to reason with.  The littlest things that shouldn't make a person upset will piss her off.  For example, yesterday we were playing at the basketball court and she was throwing her bouncy ball around.  It was bouncing right at me, so I stopped it and rolled it to her.  She stopped in her tracks, crossed her arms and gave me the dirtiest look. She then pouted and refused to pick up her bouncy ball.  Okay then....  Example 2: her and Max have been going crazy saying potty words.  They think it's hilarious.  Well it's not.  I'm so tired of hearing the words poop and fart.  I was doing the dishes and Emma wanted a piece of candy.  I told her no and explained that she's not getting one because she continues to use potty words after I've told her not to.  The girl looks me dead in the eyes and says without any hesitation, "Okay Fart."  In her words I feel like she's telling me, "F you!"  I. Was. So. Mad.  Max fell to the ground in a heep of laughter.  I, of course, was even more mad.  He was sent to his room.  Emma was sat on the couch where I gave her a stern talking, and she ended in tears.  She thinks her tears work on me, and sometimes they do, but not last night.  Nice try little lady!

Before we had any fun she needed a nap, so nap we did! When we woke up we went to 7 Eleven for a free slurpee.  Then headed to the park to hunt some Pokémon.  It was so funny walking around and seeing everyone else playing the game.  Max and Emma also needed to run off their little sugar high they were on after drinking their slurpee.

Emma got tired walking towards the end and wanted me to carry her.  So we had to take a selfie.  Doesn't she look so sweet?  You'd never even know she had a morning/afternoon of meltdowns.
On our walk they were looking at the water.  They are so cute.  All the heart eyes for these three.
Today Max has a friend's birthday party to attend.  He's so excited to see some of his classmates. Today I will be functioning on coffee.  Emma hasn't been sleeping well, which means I haven't been sleeping well.   Oh and as I type Emma is starting with the potty words, and Max is quick to tattle.  Maybe I need wine....at 9 in the morning. Just kidding.  Maybe.

Birthday Party Weekend

This weekend was all about celebrating friends and celebrating their birthdays.  One birthday was for a special 7 year old who wanted to do some painting for her birthday.  Each kiddo was able to choose what they wanted to paint.  Emma picked a bunny and Max picked a dragon.  They then were able to pick 3 colors to paint with.
As always my kids taking the task at hand so seriously.
Emma painted her bunny a sweet pink color and then painted the face blue...which then led her to painting the whole thing blue.  I'll take a picture of the finish product when we get them.
We also celebrated a birthday boy turning 3.  He had a monster jam party that included a monster truck jumpy house.  Max and Emma were in jumping heaven.  They pretty much jumped for 4 hours straight.  They slept so good last night.
So...you may have heard about a new game, Pokémon Go.  I've seen people tweet about it and post about it on Facebook.  Well I downloaded it.  Hello addiction.  We saw so many people out and about today playing it.  When my sister comes to visit we are so going Pokémon hunting.
Have you joined Chipotle's summer rewards program?  I heart Chipotle.  The other day Ian surprised me with some along with their Chiptopia card.   For signing up I got free chips and guacamole.  Umm yes please!  We will be visiting my fav place more often this summer for sure.
Olay, well we're off to go Pokémon hunting...don't judge.  Go download the app and have fun!

There is Good

The world we live in is a scary place.  Bad things are always happening.  Most of the time the bad things are happening to innocent people.  You turn on the news and it highlights all the negativity around us.  By the time you're done watching you feel depressed, helpless or maybe even angry.
I don't even know what to say about the hatred that is going on in the world...in the US.  It feels like every day there's a tragedy that happens.  A new hashtag.  More violence.   When is it going to stop?
I look at Max and Emma, and I just want them to live in a world with no hate.  Where people don't see skin color as something that divides us.  Where people can love who they want without being judged.  Kids are so innocent.  When they see something for the first time and their eyes light up with excitement.  I can't watch the news with Max and Emma in the room.  They see something bad and they get scared.  I don't want them to be scared.   I just want to protect them from all the bad.
We need to make a change.  There's good in the world.  There are good people of all races.  There are good police officers.  There is good
Some good in my life.  These two.  I pray they make a difference in our world.  That the light of excitement never goes out of their eyes, and they focus on the good around them.

There is good.

Life Lately

Hey guys!  Hope you are having a fun holiday weekend!  I thought I'd stop by and fill you in on what we've been up to.  I had plans to blog more frequently since schools been out, but life always happens.  Sometimes life gives you lemons, and sometimes life throws them at you.  A few good ugly cries puts everything in to perspective though, and life goes on.
My Mama came to visit for a week.  One of the days we went to Seahurst Park.  I had never been, but Max and Ian went there for a field trip. Max was eager to show us everything he had learned about, and be our little guide.  It's a beautiful place.

After we had worked up an appetite we went to have dinner at Caliburger, which is a knock-off of In-n-Out burger.  We all enjoyed a good cheeseburger and fries cali-style. Yum!
Ian then took us to check out the campus of the University of Washington.  Holy moly.  The campus is huge!! I couldn't get over just how beautiful it is, and Max and Emma had fun running around.   While there we had passed a pay phone and just as we walked by it rang.  It gave me the creeps.
We played some Frisbee.  Max learned how to play at school.  He's pretty good!
I mean, how beautiful is this view?  It totally made me think of Gilmore Girls.

The kiddos and I went to see Finding Dory with my Mom.  We went to a theater that was remodeled about 6 months ago.  All the seats are recliners.  It's super fancy, cozy and takes movie watching to a new level.  The movie was super cute.  Both kids had to go to the bathroom, so I missed probably the best part of the movie. Oh well...I'll wait until it comes out on dvd.
I took Max and Emma swimming the other night.  They had fun, and I see many more trips to the pool in our future this summer!  I died over their swimsuits.
Max and Emma were watching a bunny hop around the yard, and I got Emma in this pose.  The girl is full of sass all.the.time.
Emma and I walked to a farmers market that's close by and picked up some fruit.  She kept saying, "Oh I'm excited Mommy!"  Then after we left she kept saying, "That was so fun Mommy!" We will walk there weekly.  The fruit is halfway gone already!

We also watched every single Star Wars.  One a night, and we loved them all.  Max is on a Star Wars kick.  I had seen 1-3 and 7, but I had never seen 4-6.  All so good.
July is going to be a fun month!  Birthday parties, camping trip and a family wedding where I get to see family I haven't seen in 3 years!  Some of them have never met Emma!  I'm excited!
Happy 4th of July weekend!!  May it be filled with fun, food and fireworks!
