Birthday and Pumpkins

Today is a pretty special day.  Today is my Dad's birthday!!  He's an amazing Dad.  I'm thankful every day that I get to call him my Dad, and that Max and Emma get to call him Grandpa.
Yesterday we went to our neighborhood Halloween party for the kiddos, and Max and Emma had fun!  There was a bouncy house that was the hit of the party.  Then mid jumping it started to deflate.  The kids panicked.  Emma started to cry.  We got them out, and then Emma stated that she is never, ever, ever going to get into again.
Later in the night we carved our pumpkin.  Max was not a fan of pulling out the guts.
Emma on the other hand was all about it.  She would say, "Ewww!" with every handful.

Then Max and Emma painted pumpkins.  A family tradition since 2010 when Max just a couple months old.

They both took their painting super seriously.  Emma kept asking for more time. "How bout 2 more minutes Mommy?"

Emma named her pumpkin Princess Leia and Max, of course,  named his Darth Vader.
Enjoy your Sunday!!!  Happy Birthday, Dad!!!

Halloweens Past

Holidays with kids are a lot of fun.  One of my favorite holidays to celebrate with the kids is Halloween.  The excitement and joy that comes from them is contagious.  The way they yell/sing, "Trick-or-Treat!!!!!!"  Now it's more like, "Trick-or Treat! Smell my feet!  Give me something good to eat!  Not an apple or a pear.  Not grandma's underwear!"  Max just sang this and I LoLed so hard.

Our first Halloween has a family of 3, and we dressed Max up as a hotdog.  The look on his face.  He has to be thinking, "WTF Mom and Dad."
The following year he was our very own super hero!  He wore his costume to the Coyotes game and ran around with his cape flying in the wind.
Then he wanted to be Jake from Jake and the Neverland Pirates, until he had to put on his costume.  Then he wanted nothing to do with Jake.  I bribed him with candy.  Then all was fine in the world.  I tell you, my bribing game is still going strong.
Our first Halloween in Washington!  Back to being our super hero.  For 3 years old, he was pretty muscular.  He kept us safe while trick-or-treating.
For his first Halloween party at preschool, he dressed up as a Steelers player.  The cutest football player ever.

We had Optimus Prime and his side kick.....
Bumble Bee...I love this picture so much.  Her little hands.

Last year we Anna and a skeleton.

No, make that Elsa and a skeleton!
This time of year is my favorite.  It'll be our first holiday season in Georgia.  On Monday it's suppose to be a high of 86...the weather is definitely different from WA.  Today our neighborhood is having a Halloween party for the kids.  Max and Emma are pretty excited.  This year we'll have a pirate and Darth Vader to chase around.   Did you expect anything different from Max? He is still obsessed with The Dark Side (he wants me to say the power of the dark side)....and Emma is still obsessed with pink!
Happy Halloween Weekend!!!

Life Lately

I don't even remember if I shared some of these pictures....if I did.  I'm sorry.  We have been busy with work, tball, lacrosse and Ian ended up getting strep.  Life is a blur and I can't believe that Halloween and the end of October is one week away.

The kiddos did their annual footprint ghosts.  I think I'm the one who gets super excited about this craft.  They love for me to paint their feet, because it tickles them.
This picture is from when we had Columbus day off.  I took the kiddos to their favorite park.  They had a blast playing.  It was hot out and the sun was shining.
Max loves this park the most.  It's their castle park, and they would both love to go play there on the daily if I would take them.

Max got his school pictures back and I was a heart eyed emoji mess.  He is so stinkin cute, and looks so grown up!
Emma had her first tball practice last Monday, and it was the cutest thing ever.  She loved, loved it and can't wait to go back.  Unfortunately she's going to miss today because I have yet another meeting after school until  4.
Notice her socks.  She pulls them as high as they will go.
Her school had the fire department come out and show them the fire truck and talk fire safety.  She came home that day and talked our ears off about fire safety.  We were impressed with how much she learned from the firemen.
Max had a double header lacrosse games this weekend.  His team has improved so much from the first game!  Max made a few catches and key plays that lead to scoring.  He almost scored twice.  We were so proud of him!  I love watching him play.

Sunday Max went to his very first NFL game with Ian.  He was so excited. He has been to many NHL games, MLS games, MLB games and now a Falcons game.  He hasn't been to an NBA game, but we'll have to take him to see the Hawks play.  The kid loves sports.
How cute are they?
While the boys went to the game, I took Emma to get her nails done.  It was at the cutest place ever.  They took her back and put her in a robe.  It.Was.Adorable.  She picked out pink nail polish and one with sparkles.  She sat there and had a conversation with the young teenage girl painting her nails.  It was so much cuteness.  I had to facetime my mom to show her.

All done!  She loved it so much, she asked if we could go back tomorrow.
There you have it.  That is life around here.  The weather has finally cooled down and it feels like Fall. .  We love it!  Georgia is definitely pretty in the Fall.
Hope you guys have a great week!!

October 15th

October 15th is Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. It's hard to believe that it's already been over two years since I miscarried our sweet baby.  Some days it feels like a life time ago, and other days it feels like it just happened.  Thinking about the day the doctor told me there wasn't a heartbeat anymore....in that moment I felt like I would never be okay.  I thought I was going to be in this dark place, feel broken, feel incomplete, cry and just not be okay.  Let me tell you there were days that were filled with crying.  One minute I was fine, the next I was sobbing.  Seeing a pregnancy announcement or bump update pictures nearly wrecked me.  There were days where all I wanted to talk about was my miscarriage.  I wanted to make sure that I didn't forget our baby.  Just because I had lost our baby didn't mean that she didn't matter.  She mattered to me and to our family.

I can't thank the people enough who let me cry to them, vent to them, and who were just amazing and were gentle with their words.  I love that Ian told me to buy an ornament for our baby so that we could have to remember her by.  The angel ornament is my favorite and it hangs on our family picture.  (I know our family picture totally needs to be updated.) She's our angel and is always with us.  My heart aches for her.  I wish so badly that she was here and in my arms.  I don't think I'll ever understand why it had to happen to us.  It will always be a question I have for God.  Why?  It will always be with me and something I think about daily.

To anyone who may be reading this, and you've experienced a miscarriage or the loss of a child...I'm so sorry.  You aren't alone.  Don't be afraid to talk about it, and if you don't want to talk about it that's okay too.  You do what's best for you.

Oh my sweet baby, I love you.

Weekend Fun

Happy Monday!!  Max and I don't have school today, so we're keeping Emma home with us so we can have some fun!  Speaking of fun...this weekend was full of f-u-n.  Saturday Ian's work had an event at Stone Mountain Park.  We had an all day pass to the park, so we took full advantage and took in the site.

Sorry this is blurry, but it's the only family picture I got. Blurry> no family picture at all.  Right?

The park is ready for Halloween and had pumpkins dressed up like some of our favorites.
Star Wars.

Max read The Wizard of Oz at school and just watched the movie on Friday.  He was so excited! I snapped a picture and sent it to his teacher.

Max played miniature golf with Ian, so Emma and I went to hang with Anna and Elsa.  Emma was in heaven!

We missed the pumpkin parade because we were watching the 4D movie for the 2nd time.

We took in the museum information and posed by a replica of the carving on Stone Mountain.

Stone Mountain.

We ended out Saturday night taking in the laser show spectacular, and spectacular it was.  There was a Star Wars part that Max loved, and a part where they played Let it Go, which Emma loved

Sunday we went to Jakub and Mel's to watch our boys play.  They won!!  Woohoo!!  We ate yummy pizza and the best dill dip.  I've never had dill dip, and it was life changing people.  I will be making it in the near future.   We also watched the Presidential Debate, which I won't talk about, because it just gets me angry.

On that note, Happy Monday!

A Little Thing Called Strep

I started work this week!  I was so excited about meeting my class, my teammates, and being back in the classroom.  Then...Sunday night I started feeling bad.  Body aches, sore throat, chills...Monday morning came and I wanted to stay in bed.  I went to work though and powered through the day.  I napped during lunch time.  I took the best nap in my classroom with my head on the table.  I went to urgent care Tuesday and had the dreaded strep test done.  Those are the worst.  Test came back positive for strep...all the boos.  Wednesday I still felt pretty bad in the morning, but by the evening I was feeling tons better!  Thursday I went to work and had an amazing day!  Friday there were no kids at school for Parent Teacher Conferences, which meant I had a day to myself in my room.  I had lunch with my team and we laughed.  They are a group of great ladies.  I'm so excited for the rest of the school year!

I didn't take any pictures this week, but that will change.  Today we are having a fun event with Ian's work that we're pretty excited about!  It's' also a 3 day weekend!  Woohoo!!  Have a great weekend, friends!
